insomnia gone wild

Ok – guilty but just trying to provide a little background.

When I was in China last summer, we went to 2 different massage salons, one in Chengdu and one in Beijing and clearly this is something the Chinese take very seriously.

In Chengdu, I had a foot massage but they also cut your toenails which on me is no easy task… visualize the movie Dumb and Dumber where they used an industrial grinder. Yes, my toenails are incredibly thick and strong. The first cut, the guy clipped a piece of my toe and there is blood but I am tough and say nothing, besides, my Chinese vocabulary doesn’t have anything close to being suitable to say at this point.

Lisa acting as translator asks me if I want gentle or hard massage and I tell them to go hard and I will not complain. I suspect that this 19/20 year old boy doing the massage wants to see if I can take it and he is pressing his knuckles in so hard it is all I can do to not scream out but I am determined to say nothing. It was an adventure to be sure and the bottoms of my feet were bruised for days.

Anyway, at http://www.allasianmassage.com, we are tracking massage salons that perform various types of massage you would find at an Asian massage salon, specifically… Accupressure, Aromatherapy, Chair, Deep-tissue, Foot, Hot Stone, Reflexology, Shiatsu, Sports, Swedish, Thai and Therapeutic. The underlying database will track all the salons, services and be able to list them in various ways.

I’m rather proud of my efforts and I hope you will check out the site. I will follow up with a blog that covers how the web site was built another time.

Took about 6 weeks but now officially launched…

It’s getting harder and harder to sleep these days.

Welcome to my first blog. This is experimental for me because even though I have many thoughts about many different things, a blog represents a commitment of time and energy that as of this point, I am not certain I am willing to make.

Why insomnia? Heck if I know…all my life, sleeping has never been much of a problem but lately it seems harder to sleep through the night. If my ramblings don’t make sense, I will merely blame it on a lack of sleep.
